In the mist-shrouded mountains of Shizuoka, the very first tea leaves of spring are harvested over just a few intense days. From our longstanding partner Otsuka Green Tea comes this year’s Kirari Shincha — a tea that captures the vibrancy of the first harvest with an exceptionally full-bodied and elegant character.
The aroma is clear and nuanced, with notes of young green leaves, soft citrus and a delicate sweetness. As the tea unfolds, deeper aromas emerge, bringing fresh green notes together with rich umami and subtle minerality. The mouthfeel is silky and enveloping. The flavour opens gently before slowly spreading across the palate with full-bodied umami, notes of tender spring leaves, steamed spinach and an elegant natural sweetness.
Its generous body is balanced by fresh minerality that brings liveliness to the cup and leads to a long, clean finish, where sweetness and umami linger in delicate harmony.
Shincha — “newly harvested tea” — captures a moment that comes just once a year.
Kirari Shincha 2026 offers the energy of the first harvest, alongside an exceptional depth and richness that make every cup a moment of quiet enjoyment.

The tea can then be enjoyed in so -called "sections", which gives a much more nuanced experience. As the taste develops gradually and it is much more leaves, this contributes to a much more intense taste than at
