Pu Erh Beeng Cha Shangri-La 2019 is a tea cake from the mythical Shangri-La in northwestern Yunnan, an area often called paradise on earth. This cake, pressed in the spring of 2019 and weighing 200 grams, is created to reflect the local taste tradition of the region. Here, a milder pu erh is preferred than in many other parts of Yunnan, which has resulted in a unique blend of 70% shu (dark, fermented pu erh) and 30% sheng (raw, green pu erh).
The result is a tea that combines the best of both worlds: the soft, earthy roundness of shu and the fresh, lively character of sheng. When brewed, you get a cup with a lovely deep copper color and a taste that is balanced, fresh and mildly earthy, with subtle sweetness and mineral undertones. The pressing is done in the traditional way, which means that the tea can both be enjoyed immediately and continue to develop during aging.

For this tea, we suggest you try the traditional Chinese Gong Fu style of brewing your tea. The idea behind this technique is to use larger proportions of tea leaves to water and very short brewing times. By using more tea leaves and having very short brewing, you only succeed in extracting parts of the entire flavor spectrum. The tea can then be enjoyed in so-called "sections", which gives a much more nuanced experience. Because the flavor develops gradually and there are many more leaves, this contributes to a significantly more intense flavor than in Western-style brewing.
